The island of Samui is located on the East coast of the Isthmus of Kra in Thailand. The island is the second in size of the Chumphon archipelago and has a population of 63000. Samui has a topical monsoon climate and along with 60 other islands surrounding it, form of Ang Thong Marine National Park.

The island combines the jungle tropical mountain Khao Pom with spectacular beaches of turquoise waters, white sand, coconut palms and coral barrier. Samui has a well developed tourist infrastructure.
