About Hatoma

Hatoma is a peaceful tiny island located north of the island of Iriomote and makes up a group of islands known as the Yaeyama Islands which consists of 19 sub-tropical islands in the south western waters of Okinawa Prefecture (southern most point of Japan). In the local language Hatoma is pronounced Patuma and is surrounded by coral reefs making it a beautiful place to go snorkelling and exploring with the island being in a very natural state and the majority of the 1km island being vastly untouched. Hatoma has good ferry links to Uehara on Iriomote Island and Ishigaki Island.
