About Tokushima

Tokushima city land mass is approximately 191 kilometres squared and is the capital city of Tokushima Prefecture on Shikoku island in Japan. Tokushima city is in the north east area of Tokushima Prefecture at the mouth of the Yoshino River. Tokushima was developed under the Hachisuka clan and displays the typical characteristics of a Japanese castle town. Tokushima city prosperity was built on a strong indigo dye industry. The modern city of Tokushima was founded on 1 October 1889. The city is served by Tokushima Port with ferry links to Kitakyushu and Tokyo.
