About Yoron

Yoron is located on the island of Yoronjima which is part of the Amami Islands. Yoronjima is administered as the town of Yoron, Kagoshima and the island is approximately 20 square kilometres in mass that's surrounded by coral reef. This subtropical island is a popular place to go for a holiday with many resorts offering all kinds of activities including water sports. Sweet potatoes, sugar cane and floriculture are produced due to the warm climate and moderate rainfall. other major industries include the production of distilled shochu liquor, vinegar, sea salt and Brown sugar refining. Yoronjima was invaded by samurai from Satsuma Domain in 1609.
